For Nerds Who've Been In Love.
(Or for those of us monster geeks who've looked and looked, and think they might be searching forever for a knight with shining pocket protector, but still love romance.)
Please watch 'The Baxter.'
I just cried my eyes out, really. It's supposed to be a comedy, but isn't very funny (I mean it in a good way). Methinks they said 'Comedy' to sell it. It's schmoopy, you know who is going to be together immediately, and apparently some reviewers (went to check the tomato-meter on it just now, ouch) took offense to the 'like-paired-with-like' aspect of the film. Also, Michael Showalter is a better writer than actor, I think, but every time he and Michelle Williams (I take back every bad thing I ever thought about you during Dawson's Creek!) were onscreen, they both lit. I recommend it for a cheesy, fuzzy, weepy evening. That's weepy-happy, before you go thinking someone dies at the end.
Um. But I think I should state for the record, that I'm guilty of trying to read the dictionary. So maybe there's a little identification with the nerds there that some wouldn't have. Oh, well.
