The Sims 3
My quick peak into The Sims 3 turned out to be a two day affair of which most of the time I didn't spend playing, I spent either asleep, working or eating. So basically all my free time. And a lot of my sleeping time too. :\ I finally feel like I've come up for air after a whole day of not playing and no pressing, addictivesque desire to go back and play until dawn. Which is probably a good thing. Still, I'm shocked at how easily and quickly I got into it. It's a computer game for one thing, and I've never been much for them. Even my quick jaunt with World of Goo didn't end up lasting that long. But that was probably more because I was stuck pretty early on with some of those challenges... They were so hard... :( But yeah, after I had to reinstall Vista for the second time, I didn't install the game back again and still haven't. So it joins the ranks of other games I've never finished... :\ But The Sims 3! I'm totally captivated. At least I was the last two days. Right now I'm taking a respite, reading some fics I've ignored, the sleep I've put off, stuff like that. But I'm about ready to jump back into the game. So far, I've made a Harry and Draco (so very cliche) and I've got them through dating (so fast -- they woohoo'ed the first day they met each other ><), their rather long engagement and now marriage. And they're almost reaching the top of their jobs! ^^ Draco's in the business track and Harry's in law enforcement -- I thought it worked out well. I think after this, I want to try playing John and Rodney together -- military and science geek! So very cool. In fact, I almost want to play them now along with my Draco and Harry... Hmm... Now there's a thought. But sims Harry and Draco needs some love and kiddies! Children! That's the next step in their relationship and I've got to say, I feel pretty anxious about it... I can barely deal with controlling two people but kids? We'll see how it goes... Okay, back to my fic reading. Gah, there's been so much I've missed out on! Current Mood:  busy |

Does anyone have experience with Pell Grants? I have just received one to go to university this fall and it would pay for almost all my tuition. However, I was chosen for verification and the process is a bit scary to me. My FAFSA EFC is still 0 but I had a $1000 gift from a non-parent last year. Will having that untaxed income drastically reduce or eliminate the grant's amount? I really appreciate your time, thank you! Current Mood:  anxious |

Laundry Detergent
Just wondering: What do you guys recommend as a cheap, but good laundry detergent? Specifically something that won't (or is less likely to) cause fading ... I've been using Sun, and I'm not impressed. Disclaimer: I know that some of you make detergent yourself, but I'm looking for something store-bought, because at this point, I have slightly more money than time... though never enough of either! |

Eau de Mouse
Last night I came home to the smell of mouse in my room. I had a mouse problem in my bedroom years ago, but haven't seen sign of a mouse in there since. We occasionally get mice, but the landlord is pretty good about steel wooling up the holes, etc., so we've actually been pretty good lately. But the smell of mouse is driving me crazy! It's in the same area that I had the mouse trouble years ago, but despite using a flashlight to look under my bed, check behind my nightstand (not as thoroughly as possible, but I had to go to work), and with no sign of mouse-poop anywhere I'm at a total loss. So where does the poor skill come in? Is this a sign that I've got a mouse making a home somewhere in my bedroom? Admittedly I'm a messy person. There's no food about, but there are plenty of things. Or is it that a mouse from, say, my neighbor's apt has died in the walls/floor and now I'm having to deal with the smell until he, gulp, decomposes? Would a natural mouse repellent work if I do have a pest? I'm a bit at a loss and thoroughly frustrated. And grossed out to boot. (I realize there's a major room-cleaning-up project in my future, but feel free to remind me as a community kick in the pants. Clearly I need one.) |

First time poster.........please be kind......
Right, I was just sort of speculating on what might happen in Season Six if House, while speaking with a therapist at Mayfield, might have his relationship with Wilson analyzed by an unbiased, third party (namely House's therapist). I thought the conclusion could go one way or another: either the therapist determines House and Wilson actually love each other (platonically and/or romantically, either one) or decides their relationship is way messed up and should probably end. So I wrote this. Beware of changes in tense, and the transferring of pronouns. Gets tricky. No real spoilers, unless you were for some reason unaware that House was in a mental care facility by the end of Season 5. TITLE: Delusional AUTHOR: ends_of_time PAIRING: House+Wilson, pre-slash if you squint real hard and kind of giggle for a few minutes.... RATING: PG-13, 'cept for the f-word. lulz. DISCLAIMER: Totally don't own it. I'd be way richer if I did. SUMMARY: It's not easy to distinguish what's real and what isn't. But in the end it's worth it. Because my niece and seester are coming into town on the 17th (god love 'em, but did they have to come this one specific weekend out of the year?) my Azkatraz experience will be severely curtailed. Severely. I'm going to the Snarry meet-up on Saturday, but don't honestly feel like I can spend Saturday and Sunday at the con as I had originally hoped to do and so didn't registered for anything. So tell me, if I came into SF a few hours before the meetup, how can I hook up with you? Because I want to hook up with you, damn it! Where are you going to be at, say, 4? 5? 6? 7? on Saturday?
